Come to discuss The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

In this multi-award-winning, bestselling novel, Margaret Atwood has created a stunning Orwellian vision of the near future.

This is the story of Offred, one of the unfortunate “Handmaids” under the new social order who have only one purpose: to breed. In Gilead, where women are prohibited from holding jobs, reading, and forming friendships, Offred’s persistent memories of life in the “time before” and her will to survive are acts of rebellion. Provocative, startling, prophetic, and with Margaret Atwood’s devastating irony, wit, and acute perceptive powers in full force, The Handmaid’s Tale is at once a mordant satire and a dire warning.

Advent Outreach Project: St. Matthew’s – Maryland Community Ministry Christmas Store needs new or very gently used donations of toys and books for children, and clothing and gifts for all ages to be sold at their church at very reasonable prices.
Parents pay $2 per child and can pick out a variety of gifts for their family members and also have them specially gift wrapped.
The store operates on Dec. 12, 13, 14 so we need all our donations brought in by Sunday, Dec. 9.
If you would like to volunteer as a gift wrapper speak with Rae Leaden for more information.
Thank you for your generosity.
