Weekly Message October 25

Online Worship link is here.

Please join us in Worship every Sunday or watch at a time that is best for you! Peace be with you!

Thank you to those who tried and/or succeeded in making paper cranes in
preparation for our worship this week. I have to confess that when I suggested it, I didn’t realize just how complicated an origami crane is!

Our worship this week gathers the prayers for peace that were sent in.
It also includes the World Peace Prayer by Satish Kumar (set to music by Marty Haugen).

Lead us from death to life,
from falsehood to truth,
Lead us from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead us from hate to love,
from war to peace,
Let peace fill our hearts, our lives, our universe.

Sunday, November 1st is All Saints Day – On the Sunday closest to All Saints, it has been the practice at Harrow to include a collage of remembrances of those who have died in the previous 12 months. This year, I’d like to do something a little different. We’ll be talking about the ‘communion of saints, the great cloud of witnesses’, those whose memories & lives continue to affect us, even though they are no longer living. I would be honoured and delighted to have you share a photo of someone you would name as one of the ‘cloud of witnesses’.

They might be witnesses of faith – at Harrow or in some other context – they may be members of your family and your loved ones. Can you send me a photo, tell me who it is and, if you’d like, include a brief story? It does not need to be someone who has died in the past 12 months, though we will definitely be including those folks. I look forward to receiving your photos, and your stories of those folks.

Keeping with the theme of the Communion of Saints, we will also be including the celebration of communion in next week’s worship.
Did you receive a set of communion glasses from Harrow yet? We have been distributing them to households so you will have the opportunity (if you wish) to use a communion cup from Harrow when you participate in communion during our online worship.

If you would like to pick up communion glasses for your household, or you would like to have some dropped off to you, please be in touch with the office.

Till next week, stay safe.
Peace be with you,
Teresa
